A little piece of Portugal in
Kingston Upon Thames

Our Story

It is our ambition to create a business that specializes in the sale of beautiful products that aren’t just unsurpassed tastes, but also radiate tales of origin and the efforts of those who tirelessly produce them.

We work to strengthen relations with our standing producers, and search for those who remain undiscovered creating food and wine products that are as unique as they are delicious.
We are great believers that good and honest food and wine tell marvelous stories – the opposite does not.

About us

We are a family owned and operated business. We believe in authentic and honest service, in conjunction with quality ingredients hand sourced in Portugal. We aim to maintain family core values and not become massively corporate. Our sole intent is to run the business with the passion and values held by our small communities.

Our mission statement is to partner with both leading brands and small community producers to ensure that authenticity is a guarantee. We specialize in providing artisan quality produce.

Our products

Mimosa offers hundreds of Portuguese products such as wine (including Vinho Verde), Port wine, cheeses, Cured Ham, charcuterie (including alheiras / Portuguese sausage), honey, jams, pastel de nata (Portuguese custard tarts), empadinhas, (Portuguese homemade bread with chorizo), amongst other produce to showcase gourmet ingredients and introduce new tastes to the British market.

We also have our own coffee brand MIMOSA Coffee – a Daterra Espresso which is ethically sourced and rainforest Alliance Certified.

review rating 5  Wonderful coffee and home made food. It's tucked away just off the market square. It was our first visit and the owner made us feel very welcome and was clearly delighted to have us sample his coffee and food. It's a really great find... search it out and enjoy.

Why Mimosa?

I was gifted with the greatest grandmother anyone could ever wish for. Some of my most precious childhood memories include her and our Mimosa / Acacia tree. We spent many Sundays talking and playing under our favorite and precious Mimosa back home in Cebadeiras, Estevais – Torre de Moncorvo in Portugal.

My dear grandmother and I had a very special bond and I remember with deep love and joy the way she cared for me; as if I was the greatest treasure.

She always showed me, through her actions, never to give up. She believed in me; somehow her eyes could see everything I did not know I had in me.

My husband and I are dedicating this shop to my beautiful grandmother; the strongest, most gentle woman in my life. Calling this project Mimosa is the only name that is fitting for this dream.
Thank you Maria Vilela for being in my life, for teaching me and, most importantly, showing me true love is unconditional.
